Nottingham is now on its way to become carbon neutral by 2028. We have been working to make our city greener through different transport projects such as wireless charging electric taxis, e-scooters and creating a new electric vehicle charging network.
Electric projects at a glance
- Charge Point Network – We have installed over 400 charge points to support the switch to EVs
- Workplace Travel Service – Working with businesses to help make more sustainable travel choices this trial has now finished
- Electric taxis – Try before you buy scheme with Nottingham’s cab drivers as well as
- Wireless Charging Electric Taxis (WiCET) – The trial finished in 2023
- Electric scooter rental trial– A new green mode of transport for shorter journeys
- Nottingham Electric Vehicle Services (NEVS)– ULEV only service centre in the city centre
- Turning the Council’s fleet green – Converting Nottingham City Council’s pool cars and light cars to electric as well as bin lorries and street sweepers
To support an environment that will help to reduce carbon and nitrogen dioxide impacts of transport and support economic growth. These measures will help to provide cleaner air, improving the quality of residents’ lives and delivering the council’s ambition to become a self-sufficient energy city.
