Nottingham business benefits from grant for EV chargers!

October 21, 2024

Bridgeway Consulting have become the latest local Nottingham business to benefit from a grant through the Workplace Travel Service.

The programme, funded from Government’s Local Transport Plan and Nottingham’s Workplace Parking Levy, helps local businesses and organisations to fund green travel improvements up to £25,000, to pay for items such eCargo bikes, cycle shelters, showers for cyclists and electric vehicle charging points.

Bridgeway Consulting employ over 800 staff and offer railway maintenance services to Network Rail around the country. They wanted to begin greening their fleet with a move to electric vehicles and so applied for a grant to cover the cost of several EV chargers and distribution boards.

As with all successful businesses, Bridgeway received 75% of the overall cost via a grant, whereas charities and public sector organisations can receive up to 100%.

Bridgeway Consulting said:

Going forward we are looking to move all company vehicles to electric as well as exploring initiatives to support the use of public transport to get staff to work. We will continue to explore EV vehicles where possible for our growing fleet.

For the most part the [application] process was simple, and we were supported along the way effectively by Peter. After a detailed call with myself and my director we were able to complete all elements of the application form.

There are many benefits promoting active and sustainable travel in the workplace, such as reduced travel costs, a healthier, more productive workforce, lower carbon emissions and local pollution, a greener reputation, less congestion and fewer car parking issues.

Could your business or organisation take advantage of a grant too?
